Ross family for Obama

 <blurb>Dear friend,
I hope this finds you and your family well. As we prepare for the onslaught of media around the DNC and RNC convention I have one simple question to ask you.
Do you want Obama to win in November? I do.
And, as it turns out, so do my parents (Mitch and Marilyn), sister (Melissa), her partner (Beth) and my nephew (Nathaniel). Toward that end I’m chipping in $500 and the better half of the Ross family is matching my $500. All in, the Ross family is throwing down $1,000 toward putting Obama in the Whitehouse. Actually, this money is not going to the Obama campaign but rather for an innovative organization that will promote Jewish support for Obama in November called the Jewish Council for Education and Research (JCER).
Will you match me too? Yes, $500 is a lot of cash, but what would you give to change how our country operates and what we stand for in the world? Imagining, four more years of Bush style governance is heartbreaking. We are shooting to raise $5,000 big ones for JCER.
According to recent polls, Jewish support for Obama is lagging compared to recent elections, down 15 points from 2004. In some close states like Florida, with as many as 60,000 Jewish votes up-for-grabs, a drop-off in Jewish support for Obama could literally make the difference between victory and defeat.
I want change in the White House and in the direction our country is headed. Although there are many aspects of Senator John McCain's life I find quite admirable, I believe his leadership will keep our government moving in the same direction as President George W. Bush – the wrong way. That is why I am supporting the Jewish Council for Education and Research (JCER), a federal political action committee (PAC), on a project I believe will win back Jewish voters.
In 2004 I voted against Bush. In 2008 I’ll be voting for Obama. Senator Barack Obama is not perfect. No, he is not the messiah, all will not be perfect in the world if he wins in November – but he is a good man – honest, smart, aware of his weaknesses, and with good people around him. He has thoughtful positions on domestic economic development and poverty issues, immigration reform, foreign policy, and other key areas that I support. And if supporting JCER will turnout Jews in key states like Florida – I want a piece of that!
So you ask, “Who is running this thing?” Two smart and savvy social entrepreneurs I know quite well. Mik Moore and Ari Wallach, the National Directors, are both good friends of mine and folks I have worked with over the past four years. They are smart, thoughtful, and strategic with an impressive track record of success in political and media campaigns. I have worked particularly closely with Mik over the past three years and he is good friend and colleague I regularly seek out for guidance and advice. I went to Ari’s wedding, a real mensch!
A combination of their brilliance and a solid game plan leads me to ask you to support JCER.
JCER is building two websites to engage Jews in the election:
•	JewsVote.org will appeal to Jews 34 - 64+
•	TheGreatSchlep.com will appeal to Jews 18 - 34
Both websites will provide users with tools which will allows users to identify voter preferences, make phone calls with talking points, send emails to friends and family, place print advertisements, and organize or facilitate meetings with undecided voters. JewsVote.org will also provide information about additional candidates supported by JCER, while TheGreatSchlep.com will provide additional tools for Jews seeking to persuade, on-line and in-person, their grandparents in Florida to support Obama.
To make these ideas a reality, JCER needs your support. JCER can accept unlimited donations; however, only $5,000 per individual can go into JCER's federal account to be directly used in connection to federal elections across the country. Donations exceeding $5,000 will go to JCER's non-federal account to be used for administration expenses. For more details, see the attached donor card or to make a contribution online, visit www.jcer.info.
To reach the national co-directors of JCER (Ari Wallach or Mik Moore) directly, email JewsVote@jcer.info or call 646.202.2846. Or, shoot me an email if you have questions.
Hope to hear from you shortly, and thanks for your support!
Best,
Ben and Mitch, Marilyn, Melissa, Beth and Nathaniel
