Here are some interesting races with some good Democrats who need to be elected. And yes, Jim Neal is our candidate against Liddy Dole.

I’ll let Jim speak for himself:
I’m a guy who has lived, worked and raised a family in the real world. I understand the issues—very serious issues—which confront our state and our republic. I can not do this alone folks. I’m not running out of personal ambition or political aspiration. I’m running because I believe that government can, not in all but many instances, lead the nation in making positive change which touch all of us. Liddy Dole is no leader, and she doesn’t and hasn’t lived in the real world for the 40-odd years of her adult life spent inside the Beltway.
I’m a fighter. I am committed and will survive the mudslinging which comes in an election year when the GOP is vulnerable, scared, without substance and rudderless. I ain’t afraid of the briar patch, and I am running this race to win.

Al Franken

There were times in the past 7 years when even big, tough, 6’6” guys like me tear up … and so often its about how fleeting our freedoms have become. And in spite of all of this, Al stands up for the truth.
Almost everyone in politics – and all of the presidential candidates – have had disingenuous moments during our long, national nightmare. And so has Al, but you gotta love the guy for calling his own faults. We don’t see that enough. I think Al’s the kind of guy likely to bring back the openness and truthfulness of the “sunshine” period we had after Watergate. He really gives me hope for the country.

I met [Al] a couple of years ago and I was downright stunned at how thoroughly he immerses himself in research. He would be a formidable opponent in a debate. The man is frighteningly intelligent and has quick wit to boot—that’s a dangerous combination and in desperately short supply in our Senate. Or how he’s Takin’ Our Country Back? How about how he ended up ahead in the polls after ending the month of September with only $88.94 in the bank?
Any way you cut it, people are supporting Larry because he’s the man in North Carolina’s 8th District with a plan to move America forward. No matter the issue – immigration, Iraq, jobs, CAFTA, you name it – Larry’s going to take a strong stand for folks in Laurinburg, Biscoe, Albemarle, Concord, Kannapolis, Charlotte, Monroe, and everywhere in between.
