2008 provides an opportunity for Minnesotans in the Second Congressional District to elect a candidate for Congress that represents We the People.

Incumbent John Kline, in his third term, has established a history as a 'conservative' and one that votes the way of the Republican Party over 90 percent of the time. A retired colonel of the United States Marine Corps, Kline has many contacts in the Pentagon and is a strong supporter of the programs that provide defense hardware.

A member of the House Armed Services Committee and the Subcommittee for Military Personnel, Kline voted against the new 21st Century GI Bill - after signing on as a co-sponsor to 4 versions of a GI Bill upgrade!

Kline voted against the appropriation bill to fund the Department of Veterans Affairs on 31 January 2007. Two days later, he told the media he was 'outraged' that one of his constituents, a young combat Marine of Iraq, had died after being unable to get treatment at Minnesota's VA hospitals.

Kline has a low rating from the Disabled American Veterans for his lackluster support of veterans' legislation. When the Minnesota DAV delegation visited Kline's DC office in 2006, he told them he would not sign on to the bills they wanted him to support because they were 'Democrat Bills' [sponsored by a Democratic member of the House].

Steve Sarvi has a history of public service, serving as city administrator and mayor of Watertown, a nonpartisan office, in between his National Guard deployments. Sarvi has been activated three times since 2001. The first activation was to provide airport security at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport. The second was to Kosovo, and the third to Iraq in 2005-2007, with the First Infantry Division 34th Brigade Combat Team, the 'leading edge' of The Surge, and the longest brigade-level deployment (22 months) in the history of the National Guard.

Sarvi is committed to supporting and defending the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic, as he has done during his military career.

This page was established by disabled military veterans who believe in reinvesting in government by donating our disability pensions, meager as they might be, to support a true American in his quest to be a part of representative government. Our investment in Steve Sarvi is our commitment to our new veterans coming home from combat zones in need of the support of a grateful nation.

Thank you for standing with us to make a contribution to this goal of electing a Minnesotan, a patriot, and a man of the people to be the next representative of the people of MN-02.
