Many of us have been working hard to try and educate voters about the impacts of Proposition 8, a measure on California's November ballot that would eliminate the right of same-sex couples to marry. Not everybody will agree when it comes to same-sex marriage, but what we can all agree on is the strong respect for the individual that we, as Americans, all cherish, nurture, and value. At its core, this is an issue of equality—about treating every citizen equally under the law. There cannot be one set of rules for same-sex couples and another set of rules for everybody else.

We are your coworkers; we are your family; we are your neighbors, and we would be legally discriminated against and made second-class citizens if this ballot measure were to pass.

A group of my colleagues and I will be hosting a sponsored information session/happy hour on Friday, October 24th from 5-8 PM at Mecca. Come for the free drinks, hors d’oeuvres, and guest speakers. Stay for the networking opportunities, and to help protect equality for all California citizens!
