Former State Senator Stan Matsunaka (D) is challenging incumbent Rep. Marilyn Musgrave®, whose major legislative motivation seems to be her radical homophobia. Seriously, the only thing she has worked on in her entire time as a congresswoman is oppressing gays. She has done nothing for education, for jobs, for services in her home district in CO. She focuses all her time and energy on trying to amend the Constitution to restrict the rights of gay people. She has tunnel vision. She ignores her own districts interests so that she might legislate hate in all the other states. An example from her latest fundraising letter:
You may know that I have been the U.S. House leader to protect traditional marriage from the radical agenda of the homosexual lobby by sponsoring the Marriage Protection Amendment.
What you may not know is that the last sponsor of the Amendment was defeated for re-election, and now the bull’s eye is on my back.
Leaders of the homosexual lobby know if they can take me out, no one will stand against them in the future…
... Unlike the homosexual lobbiesâ ads, my ad campaign will be based on truth and compare my solid record to that of my opponent, liberal Democrat Stan Matsunaka.
Stan Matsunaka fears the truth because he knows his record in the State Senate shows he supports homosexual marriage and will promote it as a U.S. Congressman.
If we allow these vicious ads to go unanswered then Stan Matsunaka and the radical homosexual lobby could succeed by deceiving the voters, and win on Election Day.
This is all she ever talks about. It’s immature and a little bit crazy. I don’t know where you stand on the gay marriage issue, but Stan isn’t some leftist radical, as Marilyn claims. Frankly, he’s more focused on the issues that actually affect his district. He takes the moderate approach. He believes in
civil unions, and was against the Federal Marriage Amendment, because it banned even civil unions. He wants gay couples to be able to have visitation rights in hospitals, to be able to have custody rights to their children, and all the legal rights that the rest of us take for granted every day.
But again, his main focus is on the
actual issues that are important to Coloradans.
For those of you who do not know me, my great-grandparents settled in this district in the early 1900s. I grew up in this district, raising my family in this district, and working in this district. I had the privilege of serving as your State Senator for two terms and, served as President of the Colorado State Senate for two years…
...I’ll work to ensure educational opportunity for every child, to provide accessible and affordable health care to every person, to expand the winner’s circle for our families, and to promote the quality of life for all Coloradans, especially those of us in the rural parts of our state.
Please take the time to help Stan out. The race is now neck and neck. These last few weeks he needs all the help he can get to overcome Musgrave’s one issue agenda of hate.
