      <pageblurb>Representative Nadler introduced legislation to repeal DOMA, called the &#8220;Respect for Marriage Act&#8221;; led the fight against the &#8220;Defense of Marriage Act&#8221; or &#8220;DOMA&#8221; and the &#8220;Federal Marriage Amendment&#8221;; wrote the &#8220;Uniting American Families Act&#8221; to end the forced separation of international same-sex couples; spoke out against the military&#8217;s so-called &#8220;Don&#8217;t Ask, Don&#8217;t Tell&#8221; policy and is a co-sponsor on a bill to end it; fought for LGBT inclusion in anti-hate crimes and anti-discrimination legislation and was the FIRST member of Congress to argue for transgender rights on the floor of the House; and sponsored the first ever non-HIV/AIDS federal funding for a LGBT community center.</pageblurb>
