Please give to these great veterans and help us build a stronger progressive majority in Congress. We need to give the next Democratic President a working majority for change.

And, in addition to these candidates, you can contribute to our efforts to raise money for more great Democrats in the future. Thanks.

Capt. Powers saw the devastation of the Iraq War up close and personal when he served in Baghdad and decided to do something about it. As soon as he got back home, he started a charitable organization to help Iraqi children. Jon and I have been friends for three years now; I believe that if we seize this moment and send him to Congress he will be a real leader for our Party and country for decades to come.

This election has ended.

Mike Lumpkin has served 8 operational tours as a Navy SEAL, so he knows the realities of 21st century conflicts intimately. He knows we need to change course in the Middle East and knows a strong nation depends on good jobs and an economy that works for working people.

Patrick Murphy

PA-08 (Map)

Congressman Patrick Murphy was elected to the United States Congress in 2006 after winning one of the closest races in the country (by 0.6%) in a Republican-leaning district. Since being sworn in as the Representative for Pennsylvania’s 8th Congressional District, Murphy has become a leading voice for the best policies for our troops and veterans – fighting for a new direction in Iraq and the treatment they deserve when they come home. Murphy is a former West Point constitutional law professor and the only Iraq war veteran currently serving in Congress. He deployed twice for our country – first to Bosnia in 2002 and then to Baghdad Iraq with the 82nd Airborne Division in 2003-2004 where he earned the Bronze Star for his service.

Tim Walz

MN-01 (Map)

Tim Walz served 24 years in the Army National Guard, including a tour overseas to support Operation Enduring Freedom. Walz is a high school geography teacher who is on leave while he represents southern Minnesota in Congress. Walz defeated a 12 year incumbent Republican in 2006. Corporate special interest groups are funding an attack ad in Southern Minnesota that features photos of Walz and Osama bin Laden, much like they did to our friend Senator Max Cleland. Since going to Washington in January 2007, Walz has championed sweeping ethics reform, the largest increase in funding for veterans medical care and other benefits in history and innovative energy and environmental initiatives.
