It takes guts and dedication to the cause for a Democrat to run in a tough Republican district like the Indiana 6th. Yet Barry ignored the 64% Bush got and made his run. He was outspent $1.5 million to $60K, and got 40%.
But he’s a fighter, and at YearlyKos he threw his hat into the ring for a rematch. Indiana elected three new House Democrats in 2006, and committed Hoosier activists like Barry are helping make the state more and more purple each cycle. Let’s reward his sacrifices on behalf of progressive politics and a 50-state strategy.

But more than that, Welsh’s commitment to a 50-state strategy assisted people like me and Chris Bowers in pushing for a Democratic challenger in almost every Republican-held congressional district. He was a huge source of information for those of us pushing the “challenge every district”
