The New Blue Revolution

  <blurb>Dear friends,

This is the election of our lives. We have a unique opportunity on November 4th, 2008. After 8 years wasted by George Bush, we need to take matter into our own hands and create the kind of future we want for ourselves and our children. Republicans are running scared, and <a href="http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2008/10/13/1626/2826/599/628926"> aren&#39;t even willing to acknowledge which party they belong to</a>, realizing full well how disgusted the nation is with how things are going. Not only are we in a <a href="http://www.fivethirtyeight.com/">strong position to elect Barack Obama our next President</a>, but we have the chance to completely re-invent Washington. We can <a href="http://www.fivethirtyeight.com/2008/10/senate-projections-1014.html">finally cross the filibuster-proof 60-seat threshold in the Senate to break the gridlock in Congress</a> and help Barack push through the change we need. We can achieve a <a href="http://www.cookpolitical.com/charts/house/competitive_2008-10-13_14-47-40.php">100+ seat majority in the House</a> to make sure we never again let the CEO-level rich reap 8 years of tax breaks while the middle class suffers unprecedented levels of unemployment, lost homes, and lost wages. We have some amazing candidates, and I wanted to share with you the ones I am dedicated to sending to Washington. Please help if you are able to at all. You can donate directly to any candidate you like, or you can donate to the entire slate. We must not let health care fail. We must not let our country continue down the path of helping the rich get richer. We must not let those who cannot help themselves continue to fall through the cracks. Our time is now.

Thank you all and God bless,

Yan</blurb>

<pageblurb>A competitive Senate race in Georgia? Can it really be? It is. Jim Martin is an unexpected surprise against the odious Saxby Chambliss&mdash;the Republican who won in 2002 by morphing Vietnam hero and triple-amputee Max Cleland into Osama Bin Laden in a television ad. Kicking Chambliss&rsquo; ass to the curb wouldn&rsquo;t be justice for what he did to Cleland, but it would be a start. Latest polls show this race as TIED.</pageblurb>

<pageblurb>Al Franken is the epitome of a people-powered, progressive movement candidate, and is running against reliable George Bush ally Norm Coleman. Al comes into politics as an outsider from progressive media. He self-identifies as a progressive, and will take the fight to Republicans at every turn. He has built a huge small donor base in every county in Minnesota, and every state in the country. He is also an extremely serious candidate, and polls have already shown him very close to Norm Coleman. Coming from within the progressive, people-powered movement, Al is a Democrat who will never let us down. He is currently LEADING Coleman, but just barely.</pageblurb>

<pageblurb>Eric Massa is a fighting Democrat in every sense of the word. As a grassroots and netroots favorite, he beat back a primary challenge from a corporate Democrat with relentless, on the ground organizing. As a progressive, he will fight for you, pledging to oppose FISA and watered-down withdrawal from Iraq, something few Democrats from a district this &ldquo;red&rdquo; have done. As a candidate, he is not backing down from a narrow defeat at the hands of Shotgun Randy Kuhl, and is charging hard in his 2008 rematch. As a veteran, he knows what war is like, and will work to end neocon dominance over our foreign policy in Washington. Eric is the sort of fighter we need more of in the Democratic Party.</pageblurb>

A first-time candidate in 2004, Brown narrowly lost 46-49, using a grassroots approach far from the DC machine. This time, he&rsquo;s going to pull those final votes he needs to go over the top. In 2006, Jerry McNerney ran a strong race and defeated right-wing reactionary Richard Pombo, with help from the California netroots and grassroots. This cycle, California progressives are making this district a prime target.</pageblurb>
