In the past year, it's become apparent that even a "filibuster proof" majority in the Senate and a large majority in the House will not be enough to effect all the change we need in this country. One possible response to this is to bemoan the disproportionate power of the small handful of conservative Democrats or the temerity of the majority leadership. Another way is to continue working to increase the majority.

In truth, there will always be a balance to tip. No matter how big the majority, there will always be progressive achievements that will be just out of reach. Every seat we gain in either chamber of Congress is another step toward a better world. (One small step in a long, long journey.)

This page lists every Democratic candidate in a Senate or House race considered a toss-up by the Cook Political Report. I'll update it whenever Cook changes a rating. Please support these candidates with a donation, and share this page with your friends. It is in these races that the Democratic majority will be increased - or lost.

Note: Some races listed by Cook are not yet represented on ActBlue. Others have multiple Democratic primary candidates and no general nominee fund that will go the winner. I've left these races off this list for now.

2010 will be crucial year for the success of the Obama administration and the future of our country. Historically, the party in power tends to lose seats in the midterm election. We can't let that happen this year!
