This year my 60th birthday is a few weeks before the 2006 election (I guess it is before and election every couple of years). No better present could please me or most of this country than an end to corrupt Republican rule in Washington. I know that Democrats are not the perfect solution—but all the things I care about - ending the War, supporting families economically, creating a culture of community start with putting Democrats back in power. Today we hope to win back the House and Senate. Tomorrow …. we’ll see.
I am an active participant in the blogging community on Dailykos.com, which has helped push Democrats into more progressive stands. One of the ways we gain some power and authority is by bundling our fundraising. So please use the link below to contribute to these fine Netroots candidates.

Paul Hodes’ campaign fits the “Northeast Strategy” to a T. An aggressive former prosecutor who has sent environmental criminals to jail, Hodes is taking on an out-of-touch Republican incumbent in this blue-leaning district. (NH-02 voted for Kerry over Bush by a 52-47 margin.) Hodes’ strong progressive values are the perfect antidote to Republican corruption both in Washington and in New Hampshire.

This might be the sleeper race of the year. Incumbent Barbara Cubin is deeply unpopular in her home state. She took just 55% of the vote in 2004, far, far behind George Bush’s 69%. On the fundraising front, Trauner actually had more cash-on-hand than Cubin at the end of the second quarter.
And he’s been an extremely aggressive candidate, knocking on literally TEN THOUSAND doors at the most recent count. Keep your eye on this race – we just might shock the country right here in Wyoming.

arry Grant is courageously running in one of the deepest-red districts in the nation. But he’s got a lot going for him. For one, Idaho is an incredibly cheap place to do business, so your dollars go along way here. For another, this is an open seat, and, in fact, a Democrat held this district until 1994.
Then there’s Grant’s opponent, Bill Sali, one of the most despised Republicans in the state, including by members of his own party. Indeed, prominent disaffected GOPers have gotten behind the Democrat with a group called “Republicans for Grant.” And, finally, the local netroots scene is positively on fire. See below for more.
