We are in historic time in America. Our economy is in serious trouble and we need to take action. I have been fighting for working people my whole career and its time our politics starts fighting for them too.

For too long, our government has worked for powerful interests and not for the middle class. Most recently, we have seen billions of dollars in bailouts to the banks and the Federal Reserve pumping in trillions of dollars more. Now, it's your turn.

I want to go to Congress and expand Social Security, secure health care for all Americans, and work to get people out of debt. But, I need your help.

Tom Geoghegan (pronounced Gay-gan) is a Chicago attorney who has worked his entire career fighting for economic security for working people. He has recovered lost pension benefits and health insurance arising from plant closings. He has represented many different local unions, including nurses, truck drivers, steelworkers and railroad workers. He has worked for rank and file groups like Teamsters for a Democratic Union to require greater rank and file democracy. He has often represented women and older workers in suits for sex and age discrimination.

Tom is a nationally renown writer on the economy. His writing has appeared in the New York Times, Financial Times, The Nation, and The American Prospect. He has published four books, including “Which Side are You On?” an acclaimed account of his experience working with the labor movement. He has appeared on CNN, CBS Sunday Morning News, and the Lehrer News Hour. He is a graduate of Harvard Law School (1975) and Harvard College (1971).
