An effort of the Netroots in New Mexico including Democracy for New Mexico and New Mexico FBIHOP
We are in a unique situation in New Mexico. There is an open Senate seat as well as three open House seats. The other Senate seat is already held by a Democrat (Jeff Bingaman). In other words, we have an opportunity to make a True Blue New Mexico.
But on January 23, the George W Bush administration, current and former employees alike, will do their best to get Republicans elected. Dick Cheney will hold a fundraiser in DC for Senate candidate Steve Pearce. He has already held a similar DC fundraiser for Heather Wilson. And none other than Karl Rove will attend a fundraiser that same day in Artesia, NM for the New Mexico Republican Party.
All this is money that will come from wealthy Republicans to blunt the possibility of a True Blue New Mexico. So what can we do? Show them their $5000/PAC, $2000/person dinners with Vice President Dick Cheney are no match for our people powered politics.

Tom Udall

NM-Sen (Map)

Tom Udall has served Northern New Mexico admirably since 1999. He voted against the Authorization of War in Iraq and has been a staunch supporter of environmental rights and many other progressive ideas.
After initially saying he would not run, Udall’s mind was changed by a grassroots Draft Udall effort from New Mexicans and other progressives across the country. Now it’s time to show how well all the progressives will help Udall get to office.
His opponents are the ultra-Conservative Steve Pearce and the fake-Moderate Heather Wilson. Both are huge supporters of the Bush administration and have showed it time and time again by voting alongside the GOP establishment on critical issues from the War in Iraq to energy policy.

Martin Heinrich

Martin Heinrich was a progressive voice on the Albuquerque City Council for years. He spoke out against the Iraq War from the beginning, showing true leadership on the issue. Heinrich has also received numerous awards for his environmental work.
Heinrich’s likely opponent in the general election is Bernalillo County Sheriff Darren White. White was the Bush/Cheney Campaign Chair for Bernalillo County and shares all their misguided ideals. He is one Republican we cannot afford to have anywhere near Washington, DC.

NM-02 (Map)

Doña Ana County Commissioner and New Mexico State Alum Bill McCamley would be a great choice for the Second Congressional District. The Democrat has worked for great causes throughout his political career and will surely do the same when he is in Congress.
McCamley has his work cut out for him in the highly conservative Second Congressional District. But with a messy primary battle likely among the Republicans, McCamley can be the one to turn this seat Blue for years to come.

NM-03 Democratic Nominee Fund

There are many great Democratic nominees in the Third Congressional District. Too many great progressive voices to pick just one, so you don’t have to here. The money raised here will go to the winner of the June 3 Democratic primary.
