I am writing to ask for your support for my friend Niki Tsongas who is running in the special election for the Congressional seat being vacated by Marty Meehan.
Why am I supporting Niki?
Terrific Person! In the more than 30 years I’ve known Niki – and her late husband, US Senator Paul Tsongas – I have come to admire and respect her as a person of enormous integrity, warmth and determination.
Committed to ending U.S. military involvement in Iraq, ensuring universal health care, taking aggressive action on global warming, and advancing marriage equality.
Opportunity to elect the first female member of the Massachusetts Congressional delegation in 25 years! Although Massachusetts is widely viewed as a progressive state, we are the only state in the nation of comparable size with an all-male Congressional delegation. Now we can change that.
Experience. Niki is Dean of External Affairs at Middlesex Community College, the largest community college in Massachusetts. She is an attorney and has served on the Board of Fallon Community Health Care, Peoples’ Bank, the Merrimack Repertory Theater and the Tsongas Arena.
She has been politically active since her college days when she traveled with anti-Vietnam war presidential candidate Gene McCarthy in the New Hampshire primary. In 1992, she campaigned across the country for her late husband’s run for the Presidency.
