<blurb>Not only are the following candidates for the US House of Representatives supporters of women's rights, advocates for universal health care and voices of dissent on the war in Iraq; they are, according to the Cook Political Report and Larry Sabato's Crystal Ball, poised to win their respective races. Because these candidates promise to bring accountability, integrity and honesty to our increasingly corrupt government, they deserve the support of engaged students and concerned voters. Send these six Democrats to Congress by donating whatever you can afford to their campaigns.</blurb>

<pageblurb>IT businesswoman Christine Cegelis is presently embroiled in a competitive primary with a pro-life, Wheaton College professor named Lindy Scott and a centrist veteran named Tammy Duckworth, who supports the war in Iraq and defends Bush's illegal surveillance of US residents. Although Duckworth, who does not reside in the district, has received lavish support from DC lobbyists and the DCCC, Cegelis can still win the primary, as she has campaigned in the district for two years, building a Democrat infrastructure while engaging with voters in their homes and at local cafes. The March 21 primary is essentially a battle between centrist Democrats who are pro-war and pro-surveillence and progressive Democrats who desire social change and government accountability. Centrist Democrats with connections to lobbyists in Washington, DC, will do everything within their power to undermine Cegelis, as they fear the presence of another progressive in Congress who will serve as an independent voice for her suburban Chicago constituents. It is our job to send a signal to DC that we will not support the Party's attempts to undermine grassroots, progressive candidates in the name of moving the Democratic party to a nonexistent center.

Cegelis earned a remarkable 44.2% of the vote in the general election against incumbent Republican Representative Henry Hyde in 2004, and she will build on that support and beat her Republican opponent, Peter Roskam, in the general election for this open seat in November 2006.</pageblurb>

<pageblurb>According to recent polls, popular New Mexico Attorney General Patricia Madrid is statistically tied with her opponent, Republican incumbent Representative Heather Wilson. Based in Albuquerque, New Mexico, the first district seat in the US House is a competitive seat Wilson has had a difficult time defending in the last three cycles: Wilson won by 8% in 2004, 10% in 2002 and 7% in 2000. An aggressive campaigner with broad appeal and a progressive agenda, Patricia Madrid can retire Heather Wilson. </pageblurb>

<pageblurb>Angie Paccione is challenging Republican incumbent Marilyn Musgrave, author and vociferous supporter of the various Marriage Defense Acts that have surfaced in the Congress under George Bush. More concerned about the needs of her constituents, Angie Paccione has passed legislation to protect women's rights and to expand health care while working in the Colorado State Legislature. Musgrave's conservatism and unmitigated religious fundamentalism has decreased her popularity in this rural Colorado district, giving Paccione a chance to win this seat in November 2006.</pageblurb>

<pageblurb>Software pioneer and Microsoft employee Darcy Burner will challenge Republican incumbent Representative Dave Reichert for the US House seat based in Seattle's suburbs. A graduate of Harvard, Darcy Burner is a member of Hoppers, Microsoft's women's organization. Darcy Burner is pro-choice, and she is running against a pro-life incumbent, who narrowly won this seat in 2004 by 4%.</pageblurb>

<pageblurb>Former FBI Principal Legal Advisor Coleen Rowley highlighted lapses in pre-9/11 intelligence to the FBI and before the Senate Judiciary Committee, earning her the designation of Time Magazine's Woman of the Year in 2002. An advocate for civil liberties and ethical decision making, Coleen Rowley believes the fundamental rights of American residents should not and cannot be compromised. With support and funding, Rowley can oust the Republican incumbent and win the race for the seat representing Minneapolis-St. Paul's suburbs in the ethically challenged US House of Representatives. </pageblurb>

<pageblurb>War veteran and public school teacher Lee Ballenger will wage a competitive race for the US House of Representatives seat in the eastern South Carolina district. Providing us with one of the few opportunities to gain a seat in the deep South, Ballenger has voiced his support for protecting civil liberties and for drafting a plan for withdrawing troops from Iraq. Ballenger also opposes trade agreements that export jobs from the US to foreign labor markets. This is particularly important for his district, as 33,000 workers lost their jobs after the Republican incumbent, Gresham Barrett, voted in support of such agreements after promising South Carolinians he would oppose them. Give Lee Ballenger a chance to win by supporting his honorable campaign.</pageblurb>
