Rep. Katherine Harris®, previously infamous for simultaneously serving as Florida’s Secretary of State and the Florida Chair of the Bush-Cheney 2000 campaign, is challenging incumbent Sen. Bill Nelson (D).
Senator Nelson is one of the best things to happen here in years. No fakery or flip-flops. Consistent and steady. Help him trounce Katherine Harris!
Senator Nelson has been a vocal supporter of Social Security and Medicare, as well as defending Americans’ right to buy prescription drugs from Canada to make them more affordable.
Today, we know Harris’ past election victories are tainted by Congressional corruption. She is part of that very-conservative, neo-con bunch in Washington. It unfolds to us all every day in the news. Jan (D) was Harris’ nemesis in the 2004 race for Florida’s 13th Congressional District seat. Jan Schneider held Katherine Harris to the smallest margin of any U.S. House of Representatives election in the entire State of Florida (Jan garnered 45% of the vote). In 2006, our former Florida Secretary of State has bowed out of the House race to challenge Democratic Senator Bill Nelson.
On the basis of name recognition, qualifications for the job, background and a lifetime of independent thinking, Jan has the best chance of disinfecting Harris’ soon-to-be-open chair in the Florida 13th Congressional District. Schneider is a life-long Democrat, but she is decidedly not a made-to-order, wind-up Party Animal Democrat, nor could she ever be referred to as “Katherine Harris Lite”!
In the 2004 generals, Jan was honored to be included in the “Koz Dozen” as well as highlighted by “Atrios”, “ Eschaton”, “True Majority Action PAC”, “The Majority Report” and others.
