As someone driven to serving his country, Woods is now running to represent California's 10th Congressional District. Woods learned the value of hard work at a young age being raised in a single parent who worked long hours to provide. With a dream to receive a first rate education and the chance to serve his country, Woods received a congressional appointment to West Point. He went on to serve two deployments in Iraq, earning a Bronze Star for his service, before enrolling at Harvard's Kennedy School of Government. His deep conviction to stand up for his beliefs and serve openly led Woods to make one of the most difficult decisions in his career. Giving up a promising military career and the ability to teach economics at his alma mater, Woods received an honorable dismissal from the Army under the "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy. After his service, he went on to work as a senior advisor to Gov. Patterson (NY). He has worked to rebuild homes in New Orleans following Hurricane Katrina and raise awareness for Habitat for Humanity by biking across the country. With a desire to serve once again, Tony is now running for Congress. It is time for a new generation of leaders to bring change to Washington. Sending veteran politicians does not always yield results. A progressive leader who brings sensible solutions to public policy issues, Woods is the person we need for a new generation of progressive Americans.
