The big race in West Virginia in 2008 is long-time Sen. Byrd aide Anne Barth taking on vulnerable Republican Rep. Shelley Moore Capito in Congressional District WV-02.
Capito is a Rubber-stamp Republican that has enabled the Bush administration at every turn. Anne Barth is a credible challenger with strong support from state and national Democratic Party members. With financial support in this inexpensive media market, this is a race that Democrats can definitely win.
Incumbents Sen. Jay Rockefeller (WV-Sen), Rep. Rahall (WV-03) and Rep. Mollohan (WV-01) face no serious re-election challenges.
There will be some important state-wide races, too. Once the ActBlue West Virginia fund reaches its target in time, we’ll be able to make donations to down ballot races directly from here.
