This candidacy reflects the feelings of millions of Americans, including myself. But, quite honestly, it’s the the legacy that Niki Tsongas represents so ably that I want to remind people of. In 1983 I was an intern in Paul Tsongas’ Senate office and Senator Tsongas was the only member of Congress to take the time to meet with the 250 students in our intern program. Both Niki and Paul involved themselves with all the staff and had us over to their house for holiday celebrations. It was only later that I learned what an effort that must have been. In years since, that effort, that caring, has obviously continued. Niki’s grace, even to people (like myself) who she really doesn’t know is something that I can attest to. If you’ve ever wondered (like myself) how to get quality people elected, well, here’s your shot. Don’t blow it.
