It's a tough time for young people starting out in Massachusetts. Jobs are scarce, unemployment remains high, and many job seekers are recent graduates still trying to pay off their student loans. While the Commonwealth may have the best universities in the country, its diplomas don't come with any guarantees.
We need a U.S. Senator who understands the challenges facing the young people of Massachusetts, a senator committed to bringing opportunities back to the Commonwealth so it remains the best place in the country to grow up, go to college, begin a career and start a family.
Martha Coakley decided to run for Senate because government should work well, and work for everyone. "It is for every person in this Commonwealth," she said when announcing her candidacy, "each one with hopes and dreams large and small, that I want to go to Washington to represent the Commonwealth and – to make government work for you: to remove barriers, provide opportunities, and to renew the promise of our democracy." We need a Senator willing to fight, as Martha's done throughout her career as District Attorney, and now as Attorney General, to provide opportunities again for the young people of Massachusetts.
